                                            [content_text] => Die Marke arena wurde von Horst Dassler, Sportvision&auml;r, Sohn des adidas-Gr&uuml;nders und Gesch&auml;ftsf&uuml;hrer von adidas Frankreich, ins Leben gerufen. W&auml;hrend der Olympischen Sommerspiele 1972 in M&uuml;nchen sah er Mark Spitz, wie er Geschichte schrieb und 7 Goldmedaillen gewann.
<p>Zusammen mit dem Rest der Welt bestaunte er diesen Athleten, der als erster &uuml;berhaupt 7XGold w&auml;hrend nur einer Olympiade holte und gleichzeitig 7 neue Weltrekorde aufstellte. Horst Dassler war begeistert und schmiedete sofort Pl&auml;ne. Dies war die Geburtsstunde von arena.</p>

F&uuml;r die folgenden Olympischen Spiele nahm arena daher weitere Schwimmer unter Vertrag.<br />Die Athleten wurden aktiv in die Produktentwicklung eingebunden und waren gleichzeitig wichtige Werbebotschafter f&uuml;r arena.<br />1976 zu den Olympischen Spielen in Montreal pr&auml;sentierte sich ein bis dato einmaliges arena Eliteteam. Zu den Mitgliedern des urspr&uuml;nglichen arena-Eliteteams z&auml;hlten Gr&ouml;&szlig;en wie Mark Spitz (USA), Novella Calligaris (IT), Steve Furniss (USA), David Wilke (GB), Shirley Babashoff (USA), Gary Hall (USA), Klaus Dibiasi (IT), Ulrika Knape (SE) und Maxine &bdquo;Miki&ldquo; King (USA).<br />Die Athleten gingen mit arenas erster Badekappen- und Schwimmbrillenkollektion an den Start.
<p>Das arena-Eliteteam gewann in Montreal sage und schreibe 44 olympische Medaillen. Zwei Jahre sp&auml;ter 1978 - bei den Schwimmweltmeisterschaften in Berlin- holte das Eliteteam in arena 62 Medaillen. Damit sicherten sich arena Athleten 75 % aller Podiumspl&auml;tze und 9 Weltrekorde. Mitglieder des urspr&uuml;nglichen arena-Eliteteams stellten im Laufe ihrer weiteren Karrieren noch 83 Weltrekorde auf.</p>

                                            [content_text] => <p>1980 f&uuml;hrte arena den Schwimmanzug Flyback&reg; ein. Flyback&reg; war der erste Schwimmanzug mit d&uuml;nnen Tr&auml;gern. Schulterfreiheit und ein offener R&uuml;cken erlaubten wesentlich mehr Bewegungsfreiheit. Bis heute bevorzugen zahlreiche Schwimmerinnen den Flyback&reg;, der in leicht modifizierter Form immer noch angeboten wird.</p>
<p>Matt Biondi gewann 1988 in Seoul als zweiter Schwimmer der Geschichte 7 Medaillen bei Olympia. Mit 5 Goldmedaillen und 4 Weltrekorden konnte er Mark Spitz die Stirn bieten.<br />Biondi war der erste Athlet, der 100-Meter-Freistil unter 49 Sekunden schwamm. Im Laufe seiner Karriere nahm er an 3 Olympiaden und 6 Weltmeisterschaften teil, gewann insgesamt 11 Olympia-Medaillen und 6 Weltmeistertitel. Heute sind seine Erfolge in der Olympic Hall of Fame in den USA und der International Swimming Hall of Fame verewigt.</p>
<p>In den 90er Jahren brachte arena mit Aquaracer&reg; eine weitere technologische Revolution auf den Markt. Dank seiner glatten Oberfl&auml;che und einer ausgezeichneten Passform hatte Aquaracer bessere Gleiteigenschaften und erlaubte mehr Bewegungsfreiheit.</p>

                                            [content_text] => 1997 sorgte die Einf&uuml;hrung von X-Flat&reg; f&uuml;r helle Begeisterung. X-Flat&reg; war merklich d&uuml;nner, glatter und leichter als AquaRacer&reg;. Das Material war 20 % leichter als andere Wettkampfmaterialien am Markt.
<p>Dabei war X-Flat&reg; nur ein Vorgeschmack auf das, was arena f&uuml;r den Jahrtausendwechsel bereithielt. W&auml;hrend das arena Designteam an neuen Produkten arbeitete, verzeichnete das arena-Eliteteam weitere Nachwuchstalente, die sp&auml;ter zu Weltklasse-Schwimmern/innen werden sollten.<br />Zwei dieser Athleten waren Alexander Popov und Franziska van Almsick.</p>
<p>Auf der permanenten Suche nach neuen Standards gelang arena die Entwicklung von Powerskin&reg; (2000) und Powerskin&reg; X-Treme (2004).<br />Die Powerskin-Anz&uuml;ge bedecken den K&ouml;rper des Schwimmers nahezu komplett. Ihre Technologie wurde zum Ma&szlig;stab der neuen Generation an Wettkampfanz&uuml;gen.</p>
<p>Auch heute noch sind diese Anz&uuml;ge die erste Wahl f&uuml;r viele Wettkampfschwimmer.</p>

In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Spezialisten und Wissenschaftlern entwickelte arena den revolution&auml;ren Powerskin&reg; Xtreme, gefolgt vom Powerskin&reg; R-evolution in 2008. Noch innovativer war der Powerskin&reg; X-Glide, der vom Time Magazine als eine der 50 besten Erfindungen des Jahres 2009 ausgezeichnet wurde.
<p>Bei den Weltmeisterschaften 2009 in Rom bezwang Paul Biedermann im Powerskin&reg; X-Glide den Weltmeister Michael Phelps in dessen Paradedisziplin 200-Meter-Freistil, in der er zuvor 4 Jahre unbesiegt geblieben war. Kurze Zeit sp&auml;ter verbot der Internationale Schwimmverband (FINA) alle Schwimmanz&uuml;ge mit Polyurethan.</p>
